EQ Tower

EQ Tower

Combining light and animation to create a changing seasonal indoor environment.

EQ lighting installation was inspired by the helix neon-like design at the beginning of the corridor, translating this concept into a movement represented by light.

With it, we wanted to create an abstract lighting path that would accompany the person passing by, and would change with the time of day and season; sometimes following the verticality of the fixtures, imitating a calm, quite presence, and sometimes twisting in curves breaking the linearity of the surrounding architecture. Like a living organism, it will behave differently every time the tenants walk by, slowly changing in almost unperceived movements. In winter, the colours will help combat the cold with warm, cozy tones, while in summer it will have more of a fresh, electrical feel.

Pharos and its new VLC device has been used in achieving this procedure, by the creation of abstract videos played along a time line. By mapping each video to the light pixels, we have been able to create a soft,  seamless movement and punchy effect that will add colour to the everyday life of the EQ occupants.
